Hi, my name is Patrik Istvanfi, and I am the current Manager for Sweet Beans Café. With this there are a few challenges as it is a newly opened Café which can be found at 82 Stranmillis Road. We strive to give the best possible customer service which we do by providing great quality food, coffees, and treats.
This blog will be about the challenges about running a café, products, and pricing ranges. It will also include the daily challenges that I may come up against. I will include on how I think the shop is doing, the busiest days and our socials.
Firstly, running a café can be quite difficult since there are coffee shops everywhere so we try to be as unique as possible and offer services other cafes may not have. One of the ways that we try to be unique is by offering Turkish Coffee. If you ever try Turkish coffee the taste of it will be like a stronger but smoother espresso. It is a lot more caffeinated and will wake you up. You are only meant to sip on it as on the bottom the coffee beans will still be there. We also do the standard everyday coffees to please our other customers which would be the likes of, latte, americano, hot chocolates and everything else you can think off.
With the Turkish coffee we also offer Turkish and Mediterranean Brunch which is an all-day lunch which includes the likes of 4 different types of Manakish dishes, chicken brochettes in 2 different flavours, sausage rolls and many more different types of dishes.
Another way we try to be unique is by offering freshly made croissants, cinnamon rolls, de natas are only some of our treats for the coffees you may get from us. But unlike many other café’s we have started doing bubble waffles, waffles, crepes, pancakes all in front of the customers on the spot to show off how fresh and unique our products are. With this we also do different types of ice creams and a choice of your toppings and melted sauces over these sweet treats.
For our pricing we decided to do research around the area and cafes around us and try beat their prices. We also now do student discounts to help the students of our area. We are also introducing a loyalty card for returning customers to treat them to free coffees. We also do our different offers in the store to boost sales, one of them being getting a drink, croissant, and a choice of your sauce all for the price of £1.99.
A challenge of being a manager of a café is motivating your staff and keep them happy. We try do this through some of the rewards and bonuses they may receive. Through this motivation we tend to do better than other stores with our customer service and due to this we will get more returning customers. We also face challenges such as emergency orders we may make as a new business we tend to keep stock lower than usual which is since we don’t know how busy we may be. We are working together very well with suppliers and able to request these emergency orders.
We are on social media such as: Facebook and Instagram currently in the process of setting up a TikTok account to boost traffic in our store. We are now on Deliveroo and you are able to order all of our products from the comfort of your own home.
